We want to make change happen for trainee Black and Minority Ethnic counsellors and psychotherapists

Fact

People of African and Caribbean decent, are significantly more likely to be diagnosed with serious mental health disorders in the UK. 


Fact

5% of the counsellors in the UK are from Black and Ethnic Minority backgrounds, compared to BAME groups making up 12% of the population.


Fact

BME trainee counsellors are more likely to drop out of their training. They experience trauma because of a lack of understanding about race from therapy training providers.

We aim to increase the number of Black people training to become counsellors and psychotherapists. We intend to provide practical support to newly enrolled trainees in the areas with the greatest need across the UK.
